Contemporary music (actually a more 80's flashback), and highly imaginative puppet creations combine in this production. This is a signature piece of Tom Bonham's creativity.
The inspiration for this production came from two sources.
1. When watching other puppeteers performing traditional variety shows, Tom noted that the soundtracks were from the 60's at best. Then one day a puppet troupe demonstrated their new revised number which used the same puppets but instead of the previous 60's number, they presented a "new" song from the 50's.
2. When the puppet guild, and puppeteers in general present "how-to" workshops, they tend to be workshops on how to make puppets quickly and from simpler crafts and household items. However, the puppeteers rarely perform with such puppets.
So Tom Bonham set out to construct a "professional" quality show that utilized the simple materials that he had abandoned long ago, and keep it relativley current musically.
The result is "Imagination." This a string puppet production performed in arena staging where the audience is seated on the floor on three sides of the performing area. This staging is designed for smaller groups of no more than 150. Larger audiences can be accommodated in locations where there is a greatly elevated stage.
